Hey there! I’m Heli Upadhyay the founder of Jazzbaat Global Creative House—a creative space where words, design, and emotions come together. I’ve always believed in the power of stories and creativity, and my journey from a young poetry enthusiast to running my own business is a story I’m excited to share with you. So, sit back, relax, and let me take you on a ride through my life and how Jazzbaat came into being.
A Childhood Passion for Language
Remember those school days when most kids didn't like language classes? Not me – I was that strange child who couldn't wait for them! Ever since I was little, I had a fascination with languages. They just seemed to flow naturally for me. Whether it was Hindi or English, I’d always find myself immersed in words, phrases, and stories. I remember my school teachers often praised me for my creativity, and I’d get the highest marks in languages. Even in kindergarten, I’d surprise my teachers with how I expressed myself. They'd often tell my parents about my creative streak, though at that age, I was probably more interested in the star stickers they'd put on my work!
The Poem That Started It All
The real turning point came on an ordinary day in 10th grade during English class. While I probably should have been paying attention to the lesson (sorry, teacher!), I suddenly scribbled four rhyming lines. I didn’t think much of it, but my bench partner read them and loved it. The poem spread quickly, and soon, my classmates were whispering about it. The teacher, hearing all the chatter, confiscated my notebook. I thought I was in trouble, but to my surprise, he read the poem aloud to the class, encouraging me to write more. Another teacher in 11th grade fanned these creative flames even further. Sometimes, all we need is one person to believe in us, right?
That moment was a turning point. It gave me the confidence to keep writing, and by 12th grade, I was writing short poems regularly. Even though I took commerce in high school (because people said “arts won’t pay the bills”), I kept my love for writing alive. It was clear to me that words were where my heart truly was.
College Years
I went on to pursue a BBA with a major in HR and a minor in Marketing. But no matter what I studied, my creative side never left me. My assignments and presentations always had that creative twist – something my professors noticed and appreciated. "You always do something different," they'd say.
During this time, I had a mentor who told me something that stuck with me: “You’re made for bigger things in life.” Funny thing is, those words initially scared me more than they motivated me. Why? Because like many of us, I didn't trust my abilities. I took my skills for granted, thinking they weren't "special" enough.
Taking the Leap: Freelancing on Fiverr
Then came May 2021—I decided to take a chance and started freelancing on Fiverr. The first few months were slow, and I wasn’t sure if this was the right move. But then something amazing happened. The work started flowing in. Before I knew it, I had completed over 200 projects for clients from 30+ countries, all receiving 100+ 5-star reviews. I couldn’t believe it—I was doing what I loved, and it was paying the bills!
Freelancing proved to me that writing didn’t just have to be a hobby; it could be a successful career. The experience taught me so much and gave me the confidence to keep going.
The Corporate Journey: From Poems to SEO
After graduating, I applied for a content writer position at a company. To my surprise, I got the job! Getting that job felt like validation that I was on the right path. I entered with raw talent, but my passion for writing soon proved itself. I went from writing simple poems to creating SEO-focused blogs, managing social media, and designing campaigns. My work even helped businesses rank higher online, which felt like a major achievement.
But, after working in corporate for 1.5 years, I realized that something was missing. I longed for more freedom to create, to help people express themselves, and to work on projects that truly mattered to me.
The Birth of Jazzbaat: A Space Where Creativity Meets Emotions
That’s when I decided to take the plunge and start my own business—Jazzbaat. The name “Jazzbaat” comes from the Hindi word “Jazzbaat,” meaning emotions. I wanted to build a place where creativity met heart, where every project was not just about business but about telling a genuine, emotional story.
At Jazzbaat, I’m not just offering services—I’m helping people bring their thoughts, ideas, and emotions to life. Whether it’s through writing, branding, language guidance, or social media management, I aim to make every project a true reflection of the people behind it.
It’s amazing to think that my journey started with writing poems in school, and now here I am, running a business that helps others express themselves creatively.
A Little Something Extra: "Unmasked"
On a personal note, during the pandemic, I took another leap and published my first book, titled "Unmasked." It was a deeply personal journey that allowed me to share my thoughts and emotions with the world. Writing a book was always something I dreamed of, and I’m proud to have made it a reality. If you’re interested in giving it a read, you can find it on Amazon. It would mean the world to me if you check it out!
